Flowfield Unity is another blog of comics. Created by an author who goes by the name UnityFlow and updated once every few days, these comics are mostly satirical in nature, reflecting on science, business, and life in general.

It's the holiday season, and if you're like me, you've eaten more than you wanted to. That's where iateapie.net comes in. The site "provides reviews of healthy 'diet' foods ... marketed towards people trying to love a healthier lifestyle." I love meat, so I may try that fat-free beef jerky! :-)

Merry Christmas!

For the last two days, I've been trying to find a blog for today that's dedicated to Christmas, but I haven't been able to find one. There are many individual blog entries that talk about Christmas, but I haven't seen any blogs that are entirely devoted to the topic. Instead, today I present the blog for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. At least it's a Christian site, so you can learn more about Jesus Christ, whose birth is the reason why we celebrate Christmas.

More Evolution Theories

I thought it was ironic that, on the day a U.S. Court banned teaching intelligent design at Pennsylvania schools, I stumbled across a blog about evolution theories. More Evolution Theories talks about some of the other theories of evolution. Not every post relates to evolution, but take a look at the links under "Most Popular Theories". There are some doozies there.

The Students' Sketchpad

The Students' Sketchpad offers a weekly comic "reflecting the Singapore education system and its schools" created by two students. I don't understand all the Singaporean school references, but it's an entertaining read nonetheless.

Question of the Day (II)

I found another blog titled Question of the Day. This one poses a more common everyday question (such as "Do you speak any foreign languages?" or "Have you finished your Christmas shopping?") that readers can answer by posting comments.

Where it Stands

The purpose of Where it stands is best described by the site itself: "Whereitstands.com attempts to -- shamelessly and humbly -- categorize stories / issues / events / phenomena of the day in a simple scale for all to understand." Scales include such diverse topics as how much money do you define as rich (from $100K/yr to over $10 million), who would you vote for in the Iraq elections (Saddam Hussein vs. anyone else), and whether King Kong or Narnia will rake in more money.

Remember Pat Benatar? Jefferson Starship? The Police? If you're an 80's music fan like me and you want to reminisce about concerts you went to in the 1980's, then 80's Rock Concerts might be for you. The author posts scans of the actual concert tickets and a short description of the concert experience. You can also find links to various band pages along the right side of the page.

Atomic Poet

What do you get when you combine photos AND poetry in a blog? You get Atomic Poet. True, the photographs aren't as good as the ones you'll find in many photoblogs, and the poems don't rhyme :-) (but I'm definitely no poetry critic), but the two go well together in this blog.

Have you ever wanted to be a worm farmer? Or thought Cheese Sprayer would make a good job title? Weird.wurk.net has articles about both of these jobs, as well as other weird jobs and workers. The blog is still new, having just started last month, but it's off to a promising start so far.

Blogger outage?

Yesterday afternoon, I couldn't reach any blogs hosted at blogspot.com. I tried different computers and different ISPs, but nothing worked. However, I couldn't find any news about blogspot.com being down.

The outage made me think of how much the blogosphere depends on one host working all the time. All of my blogs are hosted on blogspot.com, and it seems like a good percentage of all other blogs in the world are as well. It was eerie to go to a blog search engine and not being able to reach most of the sites you're looking for. Unlike regular web sites, which are hosted on countless different servers and providers, the blogosphere has a big dependency on blogspot.com. Scary.

What a "novel" idea: a reading marathan where you try to read 26 books in a year. That's the goal of 26 Books. 52 Weeks. 3 Suckers. Will they make it? Who knows, but you can read about their progress in the meantime and the books they're reading.

Savage Chickens

Savage Chickens features daily cartoons of chickens drawn on sticky notes. The blog is called Savage Chickens presumably because the author is named Doug Savage. Some of the cartoons are really funny. I'll have to add this to my list of favorite blogs.
